Do you travel within Japan on the Shinkansen? If you’re carrying a large suitcase, where do you put it?
I often bring a suitcase filled with filming equipment on the Shinkansen as well.
Shinkansen trains have designated seats for passengers with large luggage. These seats are located at the very back of the car. Behind these rear seats, there is space to place your large suitcase.
To use these designated seats, you need to make a reservation in advance. When purchasing your Shinkansen ticket, you can specify “Seats with an Oversized Baggage Area.” For more details, please visit the following page (in English):
